Huckabee Wins Kansas
9 February 2008Who knows how this Republican nomination process is going to end up? The pundits all think they know. They’ve written Mike Huckabee off. Yesterday Rush said repeatedly that McCain IS the nominee. Never mind that he’s hundreds of votes away from actually winning that nomination.
Huckabee today won the state of Kansas and he did it BIG. He beat McCain by 40 points! Kansas only has 36 delegates but that’s 36 closer for Huckabee. I don’t pretend to know how Kansas will ultimately affect this race but my expectation is that it will buoy Huckabee and set McCain back. Not merely because Huckabee won and McCain didn’t, but because the win was so big. People will likely begin to question the whole “presumptive nominee” assumption of the pundits.
Folks, there is real unrest in the GOP. While Romney was still in, that unrest was split. Now it is focusing on Mike Huckabee. Conservatives do not like and do not trust John McCain. Rush, Laura Ingraham, et. al. have spent a lot of energy trying to convince people that Mike Huckabee is not a conservative. Well, conservatives all across America aren’t buying it and they KNOW John McCain is not a conservative.
There are three other Primaries today and the returns will be coming in this evening. Some will be late considering Washington is one of the primary states. I expect Huckabee to do very well if Kansas is any indication. I want Huckabee to win this and I also want to see the pundits when he does. I’ve said it before folks, this thing isn’t over and Mike Huckabee is still in it!
If you haven’t already, watch the two videos of Huckabee’s speech at CPAC in the previous post. That’ll inspire you!
