Huckabee Still In

30 January 2008

This morning I’ve been looking at the national polls and the state polls for the upcoming Super Tuesday primaries.  Folks, Huckabee is still in this.  In Georgia, for example, Huckabee has a 15 point lead in the polls.  In Alabama he is tied with McCain and I suspect he will pull ahead there.  In Tennessee Huckabee has a 12 point lead over McCain.  Huckabee has a one point lead over McCain in Missouri.  The fact is, Huckabee is in decent shape.

I said last night that I was donating the Romney’s campaign today.  I’m holding off on that for now.  In fact, I’m sending a little cash to the Huckabee campaign as soon as I finish this post.  Huckabee is still a long shot but he has a chance and I’ll do what I can increase that chance.

Folks, consider how little Huckabee has had in the way of resources!  He has pulled of an amazing feat with little money to work with.  That says something about the man, both in terms of his ability to inspire and in terms of his supporters who have worked tirelessly.  I don’t know if he’ll pull this off but I know that, if the Democrats take the White House in November, Huckabee will be poised to take it back in ’12.  With his amazing showing coming from nowhere this year he will not have trouble getting support and money in ’12.

Who knows?  Perhaps if Huckabee can’t do it, another hard learned lesson may be in order for the American people.  It really does appear that we’ve forgotten the late 70s and Jimmy Carter.  Maybe we need to learn that lesson again and both Hillary and Obama can certainly teach it to us!
