Hosting Change This Weekend
15 June 2007My hosting account expires in less than a month and I’ve been looking forward to it. I’ve been less than thrilled with my current host so I’ve just been waiting to make a change. Now, I discover my blog email has, apparently, been down for 3 days. Turns out my current host screwed up the MX record!
So, I’ve now opened a new hosting account with GoDaddy. I’ve been using them for years with other sites and all my clients are on GoDaddy. My domain is already there so I just have to transfer the blog. That will happen this weekend.
At the same time the domain name is changing. It will be www.ronsmusings.com after the change. The current domain, www.ronsmusings.com, will continue to work for the short term. It will, however, be forwarded, not the actual domain name. I have other plans for rongoodwyne.com down the road and it makes sense to me for my blog domain to be the same as my blog name.
It is possible that there will be some outages while I work on the move. I’ll try to minimize that as much as possible but I doubt I can eliminate it altogether.
Once the blog is moved and up, I’ll be able to make my own MX record changes and get my email back up. But that probably won’t be until sometime Sunday afternoon. So if you are sending email to ron@rongoodwyne.com, it won’t bounce but it won’t get to me either until sometime Sunday.
I plan to move the Lindsey Graham from free WordPress.com hosting soon as well. That will be easier since there isn’t much there yet. Once that is moved look for more posting.
Finally, I’ve registered a new domain, www.universitasveritas.com. I hope I have the Latin right for Total Truth or Universal Truth. Shortly that will be a blog about worldviews, specifically, a Christian worldview. While it may occasionally veer into the political realm as necessary to deal with worldview issues, it will NOT be a political blog.
