The Social Gospel

21 February 2007

This has been a difficult post to write. I’ve been working on it for several days. My biggest concern is that I not be misunderstood but I fear I cannot do justice to what I’m getting at. Some will read this post and just say “oh yeah!” Others will read it and conclude that I’m [...]

Christian Blogpshpere

19 February 2007

You may have noticed a new blogroll to the left. It’s the Christian Blogosphere Blogroll. Michelle over at Reformed Chicks Blabbing started this blogroll and since I am a fan of hers (and their) work, and since it seems in keeping with the change in direction I am attempting on this blog, I decided to [...]

A Perfectly Dreadful Christian Dilemma

12 February 2007

Neal Boortz went on a rant this morning about a woman in Charleston, SC. Brenda Kelly has six kids (four living with her) with three different fathers, works a $6.00/hour job, gets food stamps and Medicaid and complains that life is stacked against her. Read all the details in the Charleston Post and Courier. The [...]

PC vs. Mac

9 February 2007

This is a pretty radical departure for this blog but I can’t help myself. In my other life I’m an IT guy who works on PCs every day. They have their problems but I love working on them and with them. If you watch TV at all you’ve seen the clever PC vs Mac commercials. [...]

Is God for a Minimum Wage Increase?

8 February 2007

While I have no reason to think Wallis is less than sincere, I also strongly disapprove of his approach to [...]

The New Religious Right?

6 February 2007

Opinion Journal today has a piece with the unappealing title Tithe and Spend Republicans. The ostensible subject of the piece is Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee who is a Baptist Pastor and self proclaimed conservative. Huckabee, however, seems to believe that the state should be the vehicle for carrying out Christian charity. From the article: So [...]

Co-Equal Branches of Government

6 February 2007

Much is being said in the halls of Congress these days about the “fact” that Congress is a co-equal branch of government. As such, the argument goes, Congress has the authority to reign in the President’s plans with respect to the Iraq war. There have even been plans floated to limit the number of troops [...]

Passed the 5000 Mark

2 February 2007

Well I am mystified. I’ve been watching my numbers crawl up wondering when I’d finally hit 5000 visitors. I wasn’t expecting it for another week or two. Then I check today and I’m up to 5074! I have no idea what happened. According to StatCounter I had 125 visitors Wednesday, 175 Thursday and 42 today. [...]
