I didn't imply that Republicans would get it, I merely hoped that they would. I did not, however, place a lot of hope in the notion. While Republicans are probably better positioned for '08 than they would have been had they won, that does not mean they will use that position to their advantage. Indeed, it appears they will not because they do not understand it.

I agree that it may well get worse before it gets better. Unfortunately, it may be after the '08 election before Republicans get it. I hope that is not the case and that is where we come in. We have to keep on applying the pressure to our House and Senate members whether Republican or Democrat. That is the only thing that can slow or stop the headlong rush toward comprehensive immigration reform that is about to begin.

The problem for us, however, is where do we go in '08 if not for Republicans? If a Democrat Congress, with willing assistance from Republicans, does enact comprehensive immigration reform that includes amnesty for illegal aliens and leaving the border uncontrolled, who are we supposed ot support in '08?

Hi Ron,
it was great chatting with you on the election night.
I like your analysis so far, however, I don't agree completely.
Looks like Republicans are taking this election the wrong way. The message now is that the pro-open border electorate won. That the country is not for enforcing the border laws. I think this shows that it's going to get much worse before it will get better.

The points that you and I agree upon which lost the election for the Republicans, the scandals, the corruptions, the losing of the base, is not completely sinking in within the Republican party yet. Looks like Bush is capitulating already to the Dems, starting immediately by firing Rummy.

Well, anyways, enough said. We'll have to watch carefully and hold their feet to the fire.
